Imagine the scene. Bono walks into U2 towers. 'For God's sake, there's so much ill in the world! How on earth do we go about erasing it?'
At that moment, Luciano Pavarotti walks in. 'Ciao, Bono! Wanna do a tawdry interpretation of Ave Maria with nonsense lyrics about how bad war is whilst simulataneously making us look like heroes of the first world?'

as he knows more and cares more about it than anyone else. and its not like he leads by example either. this is a man who flew his hat first class across the atlantic. clearly something is awry with him.
