Vanessa Amorosi - Somewhere in the Real World
Melbourne born singer Vanessa Amorosi finally released her much-awaited second studio album, Somewhere in the Real World, this week - an album six years in the making.
Despite penning songs for the album back in 2006, delay after delay meant Somewhere In The Real World had to be pushed back for release in May 2008 (from late 2007) but fans will be rewarded with an outstanding collection of songs which show off Vanessa’s maturity and musicianship.
Amorosi collaborated with some of the greatest songwriting talents in the world, including Australia’s Josh Abrahams and David Franj as well as writers from the US such Pam Reswick (Tina Arena) and Dave Tyson (Alannah Myles).
She then went to Los Angeles to record with songwriters and producers Ron Aniello (Barenaked Ladies) Greg Wells (Mika, Timbaland) and Cliff Magness (Pink, Avril Lavigne). The end result is that while Amorosi's musical tastes have become a bit heavier and more soulful, that booming voice still remains.
The singer feels that in ‘Somewhere In The Real World’, she finally has an album that represents 'her'. “I think this album represents me finally. When I listen to ‘Absolutely Everybody’ and ‘Shine’ now, I sound like a baby, because I was a baby," she said. "'Somewhere In The Real World’ represents who I am now and I believe it’s still recognisable.
