Whitlams - Truth Beauty And A Picture Of
August 6th 2008 23:15
The Whitlams are an ARIA award-winning Australian band featuring band members Tim Freedman (founding member), Jak Housden, Warwick Hornby and Terepai Richmond.
The band - named in tribute to former Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam - has been a mainstay in the Australian music scene for the past 16 years and are best known for their hit songs "No Aphrodisiac" and "Blow Up the Pokies". In total, the Whitlams have released six studio albums including the multiple award-winning album, Eternal Nightcap, which won three ARIA awards (out of 8 nominations) and achieved 4-times Platinum in sales.
Although the band's commercial success have waned over the past years, they are still one of the country's best loved and most respected bands. Their latest release is a "Best of" compilation album - the title is taken from the lyrics of "No Aphrodisiac" - exploring The Whitlams' musical history including the band's rise from humble beginnings, the tough times and finally success while featuring twenty tracks including favourites such as "Gough", "I Make Hamburgers", "No Aphrodisiac", "Blow Up The Pokies" and "Thank You (For Loving Me At My Worst)".
A great addition to the CD rack.
