Music for Strippers: Lollipop by Framing Hanley
June 14th 2009 01:02
This is the first review in our new category called "Sex Sells: Music for Strippers". The title kind of speaks for itself, but just for clarification.....this category is going to spotlight songs that strippers love to dance to!!!! That's right, thousands of sexy ladies swinging on a stripper pole CAN'T be wrong!!!!
When most people think of Nashville, Tennessee, they think of country music. But oddly enough, the home of The Country Music Hall of Fame also spawned Framing Hanley. Bassist Luke McDuffe was high school friends with drummer Chris Vest; and while in college, they met vocalist Kenneth Nixon. Soon after, guitarist Brandon Wooten and Tim Huskinson joined the lineup.
They originally played their blend of alternative rock and post-grunge under the name Embers Fade. In 2006, the band changed their name to Framing Hanley. In an interview with Blogs N' Roses, vocalist Nixon stated that "our drummer's fiancé, Ashley Hanley, passed away in October 2006. She was a best friend of the rest of the band, and we wanted to do something to somewhat honor her. She used to take pictures for our band, hence 'framing'. Naming the band Framing Hanley was the least we could do for someone that means so much to us." (To read the entire interview, click HERE)
Soon after, former Creed bassist Brett Hestla discovered the Nashville band, and helped them record a demo in his Orlando, Florida studio. This demo captured the interest of the Silent Majority Group record label; also out of Orlando. In June 2008, Tim left the band, and was replaced by guitarist Ryan Belcher; a temporary position which soon became permanent. The band's debut album, The Moment, was recorded in Orlando and released in 2007. The Deluxe Edition was released in November 2008, and included the song Lollipop.
This album included a cover version of Lil' Wayne's Lollipop. The band remade the rapper's risqué song with heavy guitars and hard-edged vocals. The song was released as a single in October 2008, after having received more than a million plays on the bands Myspace page. (click HERE to check out their Myspace page)
This hard-hitting remake was custom made for the "Sex Sells" category...... with it's grinding rhythm and beat, sexy ladies in Orlando, Nashville, and worldwide love to swing on the stripper pole and take off their clothes to LOLLIPOP!!!! Thank you Framing Hanley!!!
