Pop Musicology - "The Second Drummer Drowned"

New Yo La Tengo MP3 and Album

July 14th 2006 12:40
One of PM's favourite bands EVER, Yo La Tengo, have announced that they are releasing a new record in September. It is called... wait... lemme check...

"I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass'.

This isn't 'new' news exactly, but I only just found out. Full story here. There is an MP3 of 'Beanbag Chair' for download if you go here - PM has had it on repeat for some time now. And Stereogum has another one here.

And, as I posted last week, YLT are playing some shows in London later in the year thanks to the good folk at ATP. My goodness, money will be tight come November...

I just listened to 'Beanbag Chair' and I really like it - I'm totally into the vocalist's voice!

Oh and I visited that Stereogum site and there's a picture of Sufjan Stevens wearing a Stereogum t-shirt!! Hahahaa Sufjan's one of my favourite artists lol

Yeah I heard it yesterday. It's not too bad, but that sort of music gets on my nerves pretty quickly.

Oh really? I actually quite like indie bands...Wilco and Pavement are pretty good too.

Well, I liked "indie" in general, but that strain of music in particular, I find hard to like. Of course there are exceptions, Yo La Tengo, at least, I don't appreciate based on this song.

I think Yo La Tengo are love them or hate them sort of band. I love them. Their early stuff is so much fun, and then they got mature really gracefully, but they still just seem like 3 kids in their mum's front room.

and sisi - Pavement reforming rumours are EVERYWHERE! here's hopin'...
