Miley Cyrus - Breakout
September 1st 2008 07:30
American teen queen Miley Cyrus has the world at her feet. Her role as Hannah Montana in the hit Disney television series has made her arguably the most influential teen on the planet and now she hopes to transfer that success to a solo singing career with her new studio album, Breakout.
Breakout, her first studio album non-affiliated with her Hannah Montana character, was first released in the US in July - debuted at no1 on the US Billboard 200 chart - and Australia on August 30, 2008.
In an exclusive Billboard interview, the 15 year-old actress/singer revealed her passion for songwriting (she co-wrote eight of the tracks on the new album) and how the album reflects who she is at this point in time.
"It's grown-up," she said.
"I wrote all the songs except two. My last one, 'Meet Miley Cyrus,' was more just meeting me, finding out who I am, and here it's more getting in depth of what's been going on in my life in the past year." added Cyrus.
With the worldwide sales figures of her previous Hannah Montana albums hovering around the region of 10 million units, her fans could very well be just as quick snapping up copies of her proper 'solo' album.
