Lil Chris - Oh, You Colossal Shitbag

Lil Chris is a young man who was the unlikely star of a reality TV show hosted by Gene Simmons, Rock School. Mr. Simmons attempted to school a group of dysfunctional youths in the ways of Rock Excess and taught them how to play their instruments. At the climax of the series, the band he put together opened up for Judas Priest. Lil Chris was the singer at this particular concert and has now embarked on a career of his own as a singer inhis own right. Needless to say, it is utter swill.

To those that have already seen the video and heard the song, I apologise for making you sit through it all again. Go to the lad's MySpace and listen to 'Checking It Out'. What the hell does any of it mean? PM genuinely can't work out if the song is some sort of love story or if it's just a phrase that happens to fit the tune. Which is a loose term on this occasion.

The main problem with him is that there is nothing to him. He doesn't appear to be a nice person in the slightest, merely a cocky schoolboy given a stage and million people to perform to rather than year 8 in the playground. His juvenile ridiculousness has, one can assume so far, only appealed to lovers of irony and fans who buy his emo-lite schtick. And the poor session musicians. How demeaning it must be to play second fiddle to an obnxious little baboon like this one. Soullessly mugging and chugging as if backing Bonn Scott. Nowhere close.

Here's some more evidence. Boy will he regret this exposure in five years time. Add him to the list of future child star disaster stories alongside Zammo off Grange Hill.

that's nice. ta. i have a job. i like it.

please read some of my positive articles and listen to some of the bands i like to praise. this can serve as a comparison point to lil chris and illuminate the gulf in creative power between him and more engaging music.

simply, his music is not all that it could be. other artists do it better. it annoys me, personally, that lil chris could be a challenging young artist but instead follows the taste of the month and offers no substantial enjoyment to those who claim to like music. he is controlled by songwriters, producers, managers and a host of other industrial forces. anyone who disagrees should read this excellent book:

It seems that the only people who enjoy lil chris are girls who think hes fit. they dont like him for his music. how can u compare this cocky little schoolboy, who got famous under gene simmons influence, to artists such as Queen, The stones, paulo nutini etc, these people had to work to get were they are today and little chris got into the industry because mr simmons put him there.

Great singers' talent should never be based "on their age". Lil Chris cannot sing well "for his age", or even generally. He has a fan-following of stupid, impressionable teenagers, and it's saddening to see another terrible "artist" hitting the top of the charts. I myself am only 15 years old, but I have enough sense to listen to music based on how good it is, rather than how "fit" the artist is or how many of my best friends are listening to it. Grow up, for God's sake. I worry for your future children.

Bloody hell there is some seriously bad english, punctuation and spelling going on here. Anyway to sum up.

I dont lik fink lil chris is shit or nuttin i dont fink hes gud eider. wat i do no is dat i will c most of u when i need to get me sum burgers and dat cos u all be selling dem cos u will hav fuk all chanc at getting a proper job cos u all rite worst than puppys innit.

I hope you all enjoyed my attempt to write like some 'wannabe gangsta'. I must admit that it isn't easy and if anything harder than regular English and I'm dyslexic.

I kind of liked how he came across on the show he was in. he seemed a bit of an overlooked character by his peers but Gene seemed to give the lad some confidence. His music is not for me but then i rarely listen to shite, he however came across as likable. I agree with the other chap who makes the mistake of writing clearly that the subtle art of argument and debate seems to have been lost in the same void as most peoples vowels. Bit of a pity really as i imagine that most people are smarter and therefore more interesting than their woeful spelling lets on.

Quite a site though. Only came across it by accident as I researched different uses of the word 'Zammo'.

This is really funny, the only person causing any sort embarrassment to themselves is the jelous bitter failed musician or writer who wrote this
