KYLIE AULDIST GETS SET TO RELEASE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED THIRD ALBUM THIS OCTOBER
“That voice is one powerhouse of a weapon...” - Beat Magazine
Better known for her involvement with Melbourne funksters, The Bamboos, it is Kylie Auldist’s undeniable vocal talent that has seen the sultry chanteuse compared to the likes of Sharon Jones and touted as gutsier than Diana Ross.
Her 2008 debut album, ‘Just Say’ saw a heady mix of Kylie’s distinctive, soulful vocals and the flawless, funk-fuelled production of The Bamboos’ main-man and label mate, Lance Ferguson. Her sophomore album, ‘Made Of Stone’ (2009) saw Kylie once again enlisting the production skills of Lance Ferguson and the backing of The Bamboos to create a sizzling collection of original, grown-up pop with warm, retro-inspired funk and mod-soul.
Her continued involvement with The Bamboos saw Kylie sharing vocal time with the likes of Aloe Blacc, Megan Washington, Tim Rogers and Daniel Merriweather on the outfit’s most successful release to date, ‘Medicine Man’.
Exactly three years later, Kylie’s third release through iconic Brighton-based record label, Tru Thoughts is set to be her best yet. Titled ‘Still Life’, the album was co-written with and produced by the only man for the job - Lance Ferguson.
The lighter end of the album is complemented by darker undercurrents; from the eerie, haunting “Daydream” to an inspired, lilting and strutting cover of “Howlin’ For You” combining Kylie‘s love for The Black Keys with her lust for reggae. ‘Still Life’ is set for release 12 October and delivers a healthy dose of disco and reggae on an LP brimful of bright, accessible funk and sultry soul.
The double A-side digital singles, “Counting On You” / “Changes” is out now and offers a soul song back-to-back with a disco track, lifting the lid on the fresh and sunny effervescence of Kylie Auldist’s new material.
