GOLD COAST PARKLANDS, OFFICIAL NEW HOME FOR PARKLIFE

August 2nd 2010 06:25
Australia’s biggest electronic-indie music festival Parklife has been officially welcomed to Gold Coast Parklands, its new Queensland home, when the Gold Coast council last week granted approval for the move from Brisbane. A boom in popularity over the last few years has necessitated the shift to bigger pastures to accommodate an increase in festival-goers and Fuzzy fans.

“Queensland Parklife has been the first event to sell out for the past four years, so we needed to provide our fans here with a larger capacity venue where they can see all their acts in greater comfort” says Adelle Robinson, Fuzzy Director.

The first Gold Coast Parklife will mark the 10 year anniversary of the festival, with a line-up the organisers Fuzzy events believe is their best yet – including Missy Elliott, The Dandy Warhols, Groove Armada, Kele from Bloc Party, New Young Pony Club, Soulwax and The Wombats.

Parklife tours to five states across Australia, and Queensland is the first leg of the national tour. With a capacity of 35,000 at Gold Coast Parklands, Parklife on the Gold Coast will ensure fans get to see every act they want.

Queenslanders better get in quick though, as already the ‘More Expensive Ticket’ to Parklife Gold Coast event, co-presented by Ten Pound Crew and Fuzzy Events, has sold out. Festival tickets are still available – and they’re getting picked up fast.

Just weeks after going on sale on July 1, tickets for Parklife 2010 10th birthday have already begun selling out across Australia, with the aptly named ‘More Expensive Tickets’ all snapped up in Sydney and the Gold Coast, and with the first release of ‘Standard Tickets’ sold out in Adelaide and Perth.

We’re happy that people are obviously as excited as we are!” say Fuzzy Co-Founders John Wall and Ming Gan about the popularity of tickets this year.

Fuzzy are experts at predicting the sounds of summer, and have a proven track record of attracting plenty of hot fresh artists not seen by the Australian public before and this year is no exception. Darwin Deez, Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Dan Black, Chiddy Bang, Memory Tapes, Delorean, Holy Ghost!, The Glitch Mob, Wolf Gang and a bunch more are headed this way for the first time.

Tickets are available from www.parklife.com.au – and sales are showing no sign of slowing down so those wanting tickets to the event that kicks off the summer party season better get in quick!
