Album Openers List
July 15th 2006 01:57
Writing as I so gratefully do for Indie Workshop, I am occasionally involved in constructing some sublimely nerdy and equally comforting lists. The latest of these concerns our favourite opening tracks from any album.
The ones I'm putting forward are...
Grandaddy - He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot (The Sophtware Slump)
Low - Sunflower (Things We Lost In The Fire)
Interpol - Untitled (Turn On The Bright Lights)
Explosions in the Sky - First Breath After Coma (The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place)
... and I'm not ashamed about the Interpol one. That's my hangover song.
There are a plethora of interesting suggestions from the learned writers, some that I wish I had thought of (The Wedding Present's 'Dalliance' is a particular blind-spot for me), and some that I clearly need to investigate (Ghostface Killah, PEEPUL!!).
Any I've clearly missed? Find out when it's published... Until then, feel free to exert superiority and shout me down with any glaring favourites.
