Angus & Julia Stone

Angus and Julia Stone

Angus and Julia stone are brothers and sisters raised in a musical family in the northern beaches of Sydney, Australia. The siblings are inextricably intertwined by their love of music and their musical talents have brought them together to form a musical act whose words and music reveal a genuine love of music, and a talent for telling beautiful and beguiling stories.

The duo released their first EP, Chocolates and Cigarettes, in 2006 and began capturing attention on national airwaves before performing publicly in Australian festivals. Soon after, Angus and Julia relocated to London where they were taken under the wing of Fran Healy of Travis fame.

Work on their debut album "A Book Like This" began soon afterwards and the result is a strikingly poignant and textured album in a storybook format - hence the title - with each song revealing itself like a different page. While Julia's songs expose her as young woman in love dealing with relationships and interactions, it seems that Angus' songs surfaces from a different perspective, one which showcases a unique view on society and what goes on around us.

Angus and Julia Stone will be embarking on a national tour in support of their new album in June 2008 after a 30 date overseas tour scheduled for April/May incorporating the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Baby Beluga by Raffi

Beluga Whale underwater

It's one of the few children's songs that I remember... Raffi singing "Baby Beluga" is one of my cherished childhood memories.

I've never seen a beluga whale but I'm sure it's an impressive sight... a baby beluga would be a precious sight indeed.

It's such a happy looking creature, with that permanent smile and those gentle eyes.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a video of Raffi performing the song in concert or on his album... but what I did find is an old Raffi playing the song at tea time:
